A Poem for Beast

Posted for Lynne Stec:

One of my students chose to write a poem about Beast and asked if I'd post it. I'll do just about anything for my students, so here it is.

My name is Beast

I am a greyhound.
I want to find a gr8t family.
I like to play with all kinds of toys.
Something that will hurt me the most is if I don't get a home.
I am a brindle with the colors white, red, brown, and black.
I am cat safe and I like to play.
I like to play with people and nip on their hands and feet.
I like to play with toys and go riding in cars; sometimes I wish I could stick my head out of the window.
I am Beast.

Welcome, Beast!

Could a hound be more poorly matched to his call name than Beast? ? This is a sweet, laid-back dude who could care less about the cats and loves the back yard.

Beast came from the adoption kennel at West Memphis where he'd been returned because his family decided they didn't have time for him. This guy is so easy going it's hard to imagine that he took up much time at all! His idea of a good time is to lay on his bed and work on a chew.

He's getting along great with the resident hounds, crating well and waiting for his new forever home. He hasn't even made a peep so far -- not a roo or a wimper or a bark. Hopefully, the home visit he's going to will be a good fit.
